Southbound Attic Band:
Willows Suite and acoustic show

Americana show

The Southbound Attic Band - Barry Jones and Ronnie Clark - are hosts of the monthly Acoustic Dustbowl at the View 2 Gallery, Mathew Street, Liverpool for Americana UK Promotions and as such are significant players on the UK Americana scene. Their songs have the Americana sound but the content is much more home based: often about life in their Liverpool home. City By the Bay is an homage to Liverpool, its people and its history. But their songs cover such issues as busking, being a spy in Eastern Europe and the eternal problems of love. As you would expect from a Liverpool duo, humour is woven throughout their live shows.

The Willows Suite
They had several albums behind them before coming up with the Willows Suite:  a full musical suite of original songs, written by Barry, based around the Kenneth Grahame book Wind In The WillowsThe Willows Suite, incorporating readings from the original text, followed by songs inspired by it is an hour long theatre piece which is suitable for all ages except the very young. To critical acclaim, the Southbound Attic Band performed The Willows Suite at Formby Little Theatre for Formby Live 2010 and at the inaugural Liverpool Threshold Festival.

FATEA magazine said; “I'm willing to bet that when Kenneth Graham wrote Wind In The Willows he didn't imagine it being performed in a folk blues style, but that's exactly what The Southbound Attic Band have done and a damned fine job they've made of it too. The Willows Suite captures the sense of drama of the book, this is partly achieved by taking passages from the book as introduction to the songs. The characters come to life through the songs.”

Mark Whitfield, Editor of AmericanaUK said:  “Immensely thoughtful storytelling with melodies that leave the hairs on the back of your neck standing up, both moved and delighted at one and the same time. And I'd say that on a lie detector!  I mean every word.”
