Has worked as a journalist on national and local press, worked for social services and spent time hanging around the Trades Club in Hebden Bridge, where she was on the management committee, managed volunteers for a while and ran the box office. She has daughters and grandsons and likes to think of herself as a mother figure. Viv does occasional background artists work for film and TV (that’s an extra to most of us). Viv runs the Green Room at Hebden Bridge Folk Roots and Beverley Folk Festival among others and with Maggie Mellor runs Viv and Maggie's Green Room. She has a level 2 award in Food Safety in Catering from The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health - and is expert at getting people to the stage relaxed and refreshed. She is a qualified teacher of English as a Second Language and a marvellous singer. With Julian Dawson she performed a great version of Step Inside Love upon the demise of Cilla Black at Elland.

Her biggest claim to fame - she came
second on the Weakest Link, avoiding the walk of shame... and she’s just lovely!
